What do you do at The Employer Brand Shop?
As a consultant, my role is to work with clients to establish their employer brands, set up recruitment marketing campaigns and ads to attract talent, create content strategies, and much more. I also do quite a bit of public speaking and workshop facilitation - I’m very passionate about what I do and love sharing what I know with others.
What are some of your favourite past work experiences?
Building the employer brand program from the ground up at OpenText was an amazing learning experience. It involved a lot of hard work, research, and internal socialization, but was an incredible opportunity to get to know the recruitment marketing and employer brand landscape from the inside out.
I also really enjoyed working with Lori Sylvia from Rally Recruitment Marketing. I worked with Lori for close to a year and half helping to produce educational content for the Rally blog. Rally is amazing because it’s the first non-vendor resource and community that’s been created to help talent acquisition, recruitment marketing, and employer brand professionals to gain new skills and advance in their careers.
What do you like about working in Marketing and TA?
The space I’m in is amazing because I get to work at the intersection of two really exciting areas.
My background is in communications and I started my career in marketing. I enjoy this type of work because I’ve always been a sucker for a great story - and at its essence marketing is all about telling stories that capture attention and drive people to action!
As much as I love marketing, while working at a tech startup I had the chance to give recruiting and recruitment marketing a go for the first time. I began to really appreciate the fast pace and goal-oriented nature of talent attraction work.
Today, I love being able to combine my backgrounds to help talent acquisition teams meet their goals through creative marketing work.
What are the types of projects that get you most excited?
My favourite work tends to be brand development and activation projects. I enjoy researching what sets a company apart and then figuring out how to communicate that to the world to attract talent.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I like to run every morning, read every evening, and ride horses and travel as often as I can!
