What do you do at The Employer Brand Shop?

I’m focused on creating high-quality and attention-grabbing content for The Employer Brand Shop’s clients. My main expertise area is writing, so I develop a lot of blogs, social media posts, and other longer-form content pieces to help our clients attract the attention of their target audiences (usually candidates).

What are some of your favourite past work experiences?

My favourite past work experience actually doesn’t relate specifically to content marketing, but rather English as a whole. In 2014, I had the incredible experience of teaching English to underprivileged teenagers in Hong Kong through a non-profit called Summerbridge. Even though I was only there for two months, the experience strengthened my command of the English language like nothing before (or after) and exposed me to some of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met — many of whom I stay in touch with to this day.

What do you like best about working as a content creator?

Content creation merges my two favourite things in life: learning new things and crafting great stories. With new topics, people, and challenges coming my way on a consistent basis, it’s really hard to get bored as a content creator.

What types of projects do you get really excited about?

When a project comes my way that forces me to learn something new, especially if it combines multiple media (audio, video, writing, etc.), I get really excited. In the past, this has included learning how to produce a podcast, launch and manage websites, professionally colour correct and animate video, and document myself and friends on our climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro. When the new year rolls around, I want to always be able to look back and say, “I didn’t know how to do A, B, and C this time last year, but now I do!”

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I enjoy exercising, going for walks, watching weird documentaries with my girlfriend, trying new coffee spots, ordering from new restaurants, and populating my Spotify playlists with new tunes. More recently, I’ve been trying my hand at short-story writing with the hopes of getting published by the end of the year!
